Introduction
My name is Jenny Glauser and I recently graduated from Utah State University in Liberal Arts, with a focus on anthropology. Although I was able to learn quite a bit about different cultures and the ways in which they have developed in different environments, I failed to find a route to apply this education to a career. This problem led me back to school, this time at the University of Utah where I am seeking a Master’s Degree with a focus on Sustainable Tourism. Through my anthropological studies I had become aware of the worsening problem of endangered cultures. The rapid growth of our world has threatened to dissolve rich cultures which are really what create the beautiful diversity of humankind. Mixing this concern with my developing knowledge of sustainable tourism, I am seeking ways to help preserve threatened cultures through sustainable tourism development. I have chosen to focus these studies on the Himba people of Namibia, a unique African tribe who is currently at risk of becoming extinct. This website is a presentation of the research I have gathered so far.
